Acceptable Uses Section ● Defines appropriate student uses of the network ● Use demands personal responsibility ● Use is a privilege ● General rules of behavior and communication apply when using the internet ● Students should have no expectation of privacy while using district’s networks, servers, hardware, and software ● Student organizations may have websites linked to school sites ● Students may use blogs, wikis, and other collaborative technologies

Unacceptable Uses Section
Clear, specific examples of what constitutes unacceptable use
○ off limit network sites ○ what kind of sending forwarding, posting is prohibited ○ restricted behavior that could be destructive to the network services ○ off limit sites: chat rooms ○ sharing of sexually explicit content ○ sharing of harassing or violent content
No student shall access, create, transmit, retransmit, or forward material or information that:
○ promotes violence ○ not related to educational objective ○ contains pornographic, obscene, or other sexually oriented materials ○ depicts, describes, represents simulated sexual acts, content, or lewd exhibits of genitals ○ harasses, threatens, demeans, or promotes violence or hatred toward another ○ plagiarizes ○ uses inappropriate language ○ violates any federal or state laws ○ impersonates another ○ shares student or district staff personal contact information except as allowed
The following activities are also prohibited:
○ Using another individual’s account ○ Unauthorized attempts to log in to any network ○ malicious attempts to harm or destroy Jeffco data ○ Downloading, installing, storing malware, viruses, ‘cracking’ software ○ attempt to evade, disable, or crack passwords ○ interfering with another user’s work ○ intercepting or altering network ○ using information or resources for personal gain ○ sharing or loaning accounts ○ leaving an active system unattended ○ using a computer for unlawful purposes; illegal copying, violation of copyright laws ○ Altering technology equipment ○ Accessing, viewing, or altering official records ○ Exporting software
